Let’s talk about my new obsession, Euphoria. The new show on HBO is filled with drama right from the start. The Pilot episode hooks you right in and you can’t wait for what’s going to happen next. The way the story is told and is presented to the audience; it reminded me of the Movie the Rules of Attraction with Jessica Biel & James van Der Beek. The style of the show is fast pace; sometimes it fast forwards and goes back to previous scenes to reveal new information. So if you are someone who picks a show to put on while scrolling through your phone, you will miss some information. This show tries to really gets us attached to these characters and understand them in a raw way.

Euphoria is everything a teen drama needs, sex, drugs, parties, relationships, family issues but in a mortifying form. This teen drama is jaw dropping and has dark humor. It opens your eyes to what really could be going on with our younger generations. It takes a deep dive into the reality of a junkie and the behavior of a family member, or close friend dealing with addiction. Rue the narrator and main character has overdosed and states when she wakes up and is released to her mother, that she has no intentions on staying sober. While watching this I could relate to different situations the characters found themselves in, but Euphoria takes our high school over dramatic lives into a dark serious turn or hits the nail on the head and I was blind to see how dangerous and abusive situations were that I found myself in.

Euphoria has a character base to have everyone at least relate to one of the situations our young teens are dealing with, and I think that is important for a show. It is important to have your audience find a connection and have sympathy with the characters. Everyone wants to just be understood in life.
Of course my favorite Character is Jacob Elordi’s Nate, because I find him attractive and my whole life I always fall for the brooding jock. I don’t want to spoil anything, but Nate is very messed up and tries to portray this perfect life persona. He dates the dreamy cheerleader and has the “picture perfect family” but as the season goes on we will soon find out how far from perfect he is. Now who do I relate to the most , still trying to figure that out . . .

This series has helped some of the actors to break out in a starring role like Jacob Elordi (The kissing Booth) and Zendaya (Shake it up, K.C Cooper, and Spider-Man: Homecoming) or to even it being their first career move like Hunter Schafer, who started her career as a model for Marc Jacobs and Dior in 2017. Euphoria has put Hunter Schafer/Jules to play a Trans gender teenager who makes an entrance in the first episode. The show revolves itself around her relationship with Rue and we are not sure yet if this is a friendship or more than that. Rue does express that Jules is the best thing that has happen to her in a long time and will do anything to keep the relationship ok and for Jules to not leave her. Jules is the one stable thing in Rue's life.

I have only watched up to Episode 3 and as we see each character gets introduced one episode at a time and gives us a back story on how and why they are the person they are today. What childhood memories have damaged them or make them feel like they need to be this certain image to the public.
I also feel as time goes on each character will start to accept their flaws and embrace them, take owner ship and show their true colors by the end of this season. The preview for episode 4 seems like a turning point or opens to a big reveal for the storyline, only time will tell! This series leaves you wanting more every time, for once I am excited to look forward to a new episode instead of binge watching on Netflix’s. I suggest you start watching because this is the New Show everyone is and should be talking about!
