C : What made you take the leap to start running your own gym with your sister Kristin?
K : I have always been into fitness since back in high school. I was always lean but gained the freshman 15 in college. I decided to do something about it and started at Lucille Roberts. I started classes in the basement where I worked out for months and lost my “freshman fifteen". I then was in and out of gyms like your typical fitness place, kickboxing studios, two all women gyms , and also tried some CrossFit gyms throughout the area. I loved all of them but wanted to put all of them together. So my sister came to me with a CrossFit gym that also incorporated a fit program. I jumped on board right away and we are now running F.I.T. Southampton in the upper Southampton area. I was nervous first starting out but then realized this is my everyday life. I wake up drunk and hungover even to workout. Fitness is my passion! And why not make it part of my career. I’m also a registered nurse so this fits in perfectly with teaching and educating people regarding their health and fitness and how extremely important it is in life to stay active and fit. I daily encourage people day in and day out to be a better version of themselves! This is definitely the best opportunity that ever fell into my lap and I feel like I’m making a change in my friends, family , and co workers who have memberships now with me! Our gym is a community and growing at a rapid speed! I'm excited for what the future holds!
C :How did you create your WOD for the gym members, what combination of exercises is a good fit for a WOD ?
K : We recommend following a series of body parts each day to see results in the gym. We work Monday - Friday specifically to one or two body parts to increase strength and overall results. I love specifically leg and booty day! I love intermittent running mixed with different pull-ups and box jumps etc. to get your heart pumping! So total body I guess on Fridays would be my favorite day of the week! The WOD daily is specific and never repeated. We make our workouts up off the top of our head and are always willing to try new moves! We design workouts that also incorporate modification for new members. We focus on form always FIRST!
C : What is your favorite playlist to play during the workout?

Does meal prepping take place in what you tell your gym members to do to either lose weight or get fit to their goal? What type of food can you put into your meal prep for weight loss?
Members ask me all the time to meal prep for them!!! With nursing and working everyday I don’t know where I would find the time! But we shall see don’t know what my future holds!
I always tell my members to never follow trend diets such as Keto or fast diets that you will just gain the weight back! Never to take any pills or anything that can harm your body. To be honest I can eat junk food but overall Monday - Friday I meal prep make good choices and I’m a lean 125 pounds with muscle so the advice I give them is to stay active eat well & make good choices when you don’t have the option to meal prep! My sister also provides a nutrition program designated to each individual but that’s more her and her husband or who provide that to members through our gym!
My food prep is easy basic to the point. I do anything from chicken, turkey meatballs, grass fed steak and vegetables of course! For carbs I always pick brown rice or sweet potato! Simplicity gets results !
What do you get out of this experience?
"This experience has been a roller coaster! I would have to say the pure happiness of people’s results! People are losing 8-36 pounds left and right! People who have never did a box jump are leaping and seeing there body change day by day! The best part about it is it makes me happy and makes me a more positive person to be able to build a community of such fine hard working people who count on me each day to get results! I LOVE my JOB!" - Kathleen
