C: What inspired you to get more involved with being a makeup artist?

M : I wanted to get more involved with makeup because I found it to be a stress reliever and an outlet to express my creativity. It is so relaxing and rewarding to create a look from start to finish. I love doing other people’s makeup as well and seeing their faces after I’m finished. I love making people feel more confident in their own skin.

A do & don’t list of putting on makeup

DO: use primer – it helps the foundation from moving

DON’T: settle for the wrong foundation shade; you don’t want your foundation clashing with your natural shade of your neck, shoulders, and hands

DO: Set your foundation with translucent setting powder – doing so will help set the foundation, weather-proofing your makeup and making it easier for your blushes, and contouring to blend evenly

DON’T: skip washing your makeup off before bed – not washing your makeup off before you sleep will result in breakouts or even rashes if you have sensitive skin. If you do not wash your makeup off consistently, it will result premature aging and lead to wrinkles.

Brown eyes: copper, navy, gold, cobalt blue, deep purple and green

Blue eyes: rust, purple, orange, light pink, gold, and bronze

C : Tell us the important steps about hair care

M : it is important to make sure what ingredients are in your hair products. If there are harsh chemicals, it will go into your blood stream in just a few seconds. I always advise to make sure your products are naturally-based, vegan hair products. Always make sure that your hair is protected from heat, because heat causes the most damage to your hair.

C : What Monat products you think work the best!

M : All of our shampoos and conditioners are very specific for different hair types. I love our styling products such as our Blow Out Cream and Rejuvabeads. Our blow out cream doubles as a heat protectant and cuts blow drying time in half. Our Rejuvabeads is our split end mender, it helps fix split ends in 30 seconds, it was featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine!

C : How does working for Monat help you have the life you want?

M: Monat helps me live the life I want because it gives me financial freedom. I am able to pay off multiple credit cards, pay off student loans, and other things. I can finally save for a house to buy with my boyfriend, David, and start a life together. It also gives me my time back. I get to spend more time with my family, friends, and go out to brunch more often.

Inspiration

I never thought I would find financial freedom in a shampoo business, but I did, and it was the greatest decision in my life. I can finally start to live the life I want. Take the leap of faith and do what scares you. Do things that will lead you to freedom, free of debt, free of negativity, free of what is holding you back. - MONIQUE
