"If you don’t know me, I absolutely love pizza! If I could eat it every day I would. As I work on this blog, pizza reviews will try and be a daily topic, since I eat Pizza once a week.

I recently just visited Porta in Philadelphia, located on 1216 Chestnut St Philadelphia, Pa 19107.

I was originally drawn in by the atmosphere and the art that they have displayed throughout the place. And then I heard that they have amazing Neapolitan pies, so right away I had it on my list to check out.

I went on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and got a table right away, although it was very crowded.

The crowd consists of a wide variety of age groups , such as a Sweet 16 party held upstairs to 40 year old adults eating and drinking at the bar to college kids dancing and drinking beers. I am 30 years old so I really didn’t know where I fit.

As we were sitting I already knew what I was ordering, Pizza! So I glance over the drink menu. I decided to order “blue Ivy”, which contained of Stateside vodka, blueberry puree, honey syrup, lemon juice, bitters, and rosemary. This drink Cost $13.00. Everything on the cocktail menu ranges from $10.00 to $15.00. I then ordered my Margherita Pie that was made up of San Marzano tomatoes, house-made mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, basil, and extra virgin olive oil. Their pizza is cooked in a stone oven and pizzas are hand made in front of everyone. I really like the open kitchen look and enjoyed watching them make my pie. The Pizza Pie was thin crust and would melt in your mouth so it was easy to finish the pie by myself. I did not feel full which let me have room for drinks! Other foods I recommend on the Menu are the House-made Mozzarella or Ricotta that is drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, coarse sea salt & black pepper with sliced Italian bread for $10.00 each, and the House-made Meatballs that are hand-rolled daily for $9.00.

Another Fan Favorite is the Pan-roasted day boat Octopus for $18.00. My friend Megan ordered this and surprisingly loved it, also a friend of mine commented to me and said to definitely try the Octopus! Maybe next time I will try our tentacle sea creature. But I will positively come back to this place for their cocktails, pizza and friendly service! If you haven’t checked it out they are open for brunch, lunch and dinner, so if you have been hearing the place is full of college kids, just a find another time to at least enjoy the atmosphere, art & food!
